November 2016
What’s New?
I hope everyone had a fantastic month, and a great time with their families over the Thanksgiving holiday. The children and I enjoyed time outside on the beautiful weather days we had this month; including walking with our new stroller. Our infant got several new toys purchased via the income we've made this month, and cleaned up donations mentioned previously. November saw numerous outside projects completed as we cleaned up in preparation for the winter months. It also saw the seasonal end of my second job which obviously means I have more time for the daycare, but that I also have many spots to fill before this becomes a reliable business.
I have verbal confirmation that the word about my little business is getting out. Just need a few more kids to be enrolled full time before this can be considered successful. So marketing it is. Any pointers out there from my readers. I look forward to constructive feedback at all times.
Shout-outs!
No specific shout-outs to mention this month.
Important Information
We are looking forward to a busy and schedule-crazy month for December. The biggest (and I say this lovingly) obstacle will be my husband's annual Christmas vacation period. There will be reconstruction occurring in our bedroom beginning December 16th. So expect some craziness in our living room for a few days around this date - maximum of a week of crazy.
Further important dates include:
Friday 12/16 - early dismissal for scsd kids
Winter Break for scsd from Friday 12/23/2016 - Monday 1/2/2017
Happy Birthday’s
None for the month of November.
Expectations
We are looking at winter themes which include polar animals, two weeks of Christmas activities, and new year celebrations around the world. What has changed the most in this area is how I prepare the activities for the children I currently have. Right now, my enrolled children are drop-ins. Meaning I prepare the activities based on their varying schedules - often on a daily basis. For example, tomorrow I am making play snow which spans all the ages because I can put the infants in a baggie to squish around. I am still planning themes, but not preparing weekly lessons when no one will be present.
Reflections
This has been a month of learning curves; particularly in the area of digital documentation. While I'm glad to hear that word about my little home-day care is getting out, I've also learned that I need more education in marketing for a small community. It will be in these two areas that I will be focusing my attention in the coming weeks. Here's jumping into progress head-on!
